Refocus That Please - by Ralph Reiley

For the October 10 meeting we will have Lee Pratt presenting the always excellent PSA Sequence Show and Andrea Shetley will be presenting a workshop on macro stereo.  She will be showing an assortment of close-up accessories and essential equipment for macro stereo and Andrea will also present a short slide show of her remarkable macro stereo photography.

November 8, 2008 will be our 2nd appearance at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History.  They have invited us to participate in their Cub Scout Day event on Nov. 8, and again next April for Girl Scout Day. The November date did not give us much time to organize a large display, so they are expecting a small, but high quality, display of 3-D related things.

All members who wish to participate need to sign up by October 21, 2008.  That is my deadline to provide the Family Program Director at Fernbank with a list of names for members who will be working our display.  The benefits of being on staff that day will include;  free admission for the day, a free Fernbank coffee mug, two free passes to Fernbank for a later date, plus getting to spend the day with club members, and a horde of curious kids and their parents.  The event last April was a lot of fun, the time went by quickly, and we were all very tired at the end.  It was definitely a unique experience.

If you do sign up, you will be expected to spend some time at the display to help explain what 3-D and stereo photography is all about to the kids and their parents.  They open the doors for us at 9:00 am to set up.  The event runs from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, so it is only a 4 hour display.  Our display there last April was very popular, and we had a good sized crowd at our table at all times.

I you have something you want to display at Fernbank, or help staffing the tables, please let me know by October 21.  This event will take place one week before our regular November 14th meeting.  The April 2009 display at Fernbank will take the place of our regular April meeting.

The meeting is the 2nd Friday of this month – October 10th. We will meet at 7:30 PM at the Congregational Church @ 2676 Clairmont Road (about 1 1/2 blocks south of I-85) This is the Church up the winding road, through the woods.  If you have any questions, call Bill Moll @ 706-859-7726 or WHMoll@aol.com.  We will meet at the Fortune Cookie in Loehmann's Plaza at Briarcliff and North Druid Hills at 5:30 PM for dinner before the meeting.
