Refocus That
Please - by Bill Moll
This
months program will be Club Competition Night, Anaglyph projection and
View-Master hand viewers.  The
competition will include Realist format slides, digital slides (2800x1050,
parallel view) and Holmes style cards.
You have had 5 months to get some new images, so bring them on!  We will also have the first anaglyph
projection exhibit.  This will not be
part of the competition.  To keep the number
of projectors manageable, we will only project digital 1400x1050 images.  The intention is to have images produced by
the widest variety of methods.
The
workshop will be View-Master hand viewers.
I will bring a variety of viewers with reels.  If you have a unique VM viewer, bring it to
share.  Also, VP Ralph has a large number
of ideas to discuss for the current club year.
He has more good ideas to discuss at this meeting than I have had for my
entire reign as President it bodes well for the future!
The meeting is the 2nd Friday of this month October 12th. We will
meet at
We will meet at the Fortune Cookie in Loehmann's Plaza at Briarcliff and North Druid Hills at
September
meeting report:
18
people attended the meeting. Uwe Trode
provided the refreshments.  It was
decided that Uwe and Marilyn will be the permanent
refreshment providers it was quite nice German-oriented snacks.
I
have waited so long to describe the meeting that I forget most of the
show-and-tell, but it was quite interesting.
I do remember that Mike had some new(old) cards
and Steve had his five camera digital rig.
One item was an anaglyph beam splitter manufactured by potential new
member, Sawyer.  Although he felt that
everyone had probably made one of these, it was the first one which I had ever
seen.  It also inspired the anaglyph
projection for the October meeting.
The
Hall of Fame Shows consist of slides which have been retired after a large
number of acceptances in PSA exhibitions. The slides
were quite good.  I had expected faded
slides with so-so mounting.  A few had
obviously slid in their mount, but most were excellent.  The sound tape self-destructed, somewhat like
on "Mission Impossible".
Fortunately, there was a paper copy of the text.  I read the text and Larry changed slides at
about 7-8 seconds per slide (quite an effort for 150 slides).  The tape was at about 20 seconds per slide,
so there was a benefit that we could show all of the slides in the time
available.  I did leave off all of the credentials
to shorten the text.
