Refocus That Please - by Ralph Reiley

Last month 15 people attended the meeting, including a number of visitors.  The visitors were Virginia Dunbar, Mark Hatfield, Rod Smith, Linda Priest, Robert Kyle, and Michael Rose, from the Atlanta History Center.  Two of these visitors signed up as members, they are Robert Kyle and Mark Hatfield.  We welcome them to the club.  Ken Kistner had the honor of being voted in as Vice President.

In the first part of the program, Mike Griffith gave a very interesting lecture on the History of Early Stereo Views.  Mike had a number of rare early views, including some calotype and daguerreotype photographs.  As always, Mike's discussion was very well researched, and presented with some very interesting details and examples of some of the very earliest forms of stereo views, including a description of a viewer that held 12 pairs of full plate daguerreotypes.

The second part of the program was devoted to View-Master projection.  Several members brought some interesting reels, and Larry had some of the earliest and rarest view master reals ever produced.  As always, time ran out before all the reels could be viewed.

Next month's program will include a club competition with slides, digital projection and stereo cards, and Steve and Suzanne will bring some special digital shows to amaze and entertain us.

We will also be discussing the April 12, 2008, Fernbank exhibit.  We will talk about how we will staff the display and about final details on what will be placed in the exhibit.
