Refocus That Please - by Bill Moll

This month’s program will be club competition night, a workshop on making personal View-Master reels and 4th Georgia 3D Fest planning.  Several of you haven't entered lately, so should have some really great material for the competition.  Blank View-Master reels are not cheap anymore, but there is a new source.  Come see a reel made and learn where to get your own supplies to make a family or special attraction reel.

We need a couple more shows and exhibits for the upcoming 3D Fest on February 17.  Bring your friends and neighbors for a dddelightful day of 3D!  See http://www.shughes.org/3dfest2007/index.html for more details.

Dues are due for 2007!!!!  Pay to Marilyn Morton.  We will also have election of officers, which occurs every 6 or 7 years.

The meeting is the 2nd Friday of this month –January 12th. We will meet at 7:30 PM at the Congregational Church @ 2676 Clairmont Road (about 1 1/2 blocks south of I-85) This is the Church up the winding road, through the woods.  If you have any questions, call Bill Moll @ 706-859-7726.

Slides needed for ISCC

If you have a couple good slides which you would be willing to send off, bring them to the meeting.  They are needed for the next competition – I get tired of the Australians winning all the time  :-(

December meeting report:

There were 13 attendees.  The 4th Georgia 3D Fest       Mike Griffith showed stereoviews of President Millard Fillmore (Whig, 1850-1853) which Steve Hughes made from separate images taken at the same time.  Bill Moll showed the Klutho anaglyphs in Sports Illustrated for Kids (Dec/Jan).

The View-Master reels started with some controversy, since the reels had no labels.  The most controversial was the Theatre de la Mode Mannequins, the world renowned 1946 Theatre de la Mode French Fashion Mannequins and stage sets, conceived by leading fashion designers and artists to hail the rebirth of the fashion industry at the close of the World War II.  Theatre de la Mode is available as a traveling exhibit. It consists of nine mannequin groupings within theatre sets, with a total of 167, 27" high mannequins. The average dimensions for eight of the theater sets are 8-1/2 ft. x 17 ft., with ceiling height minimum of 11 ft. The ninth set measures 21 ft. x 29 ft. with a ceiling height minimum of 18 ft.  We will not have that exhibit at the 3D Fest.  Other reels were Mandate of Heaven – from Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Hong Kong and Balloon Utopia – San Diego's Entertainment Experts – Because it 's not just a balloon anymore.

Larry Moor brought more of his amazing collection of reels, including daredevil driving stunts from the 1970's which supposedly showed John Waldsmith in the viewing stands, although we could not identify him.
