Refocus That Please - by Bill Moll

This month’s program will be Club competition, 3rd Georgia 3D Fest planning and a slide mounting workshop.   The club competition is for Realist format slides and Holmes, DSEC or ViewMagic format cards. If you bring ViewMagic format cards, remember to bring a viewer, because we won't be providing one.  This is the first competition of the year, so start the year off right and bring some good 3D to share.

Our guest judge will be Jeff Mather, with the Fulton County School Arts Program.  Jeff works with school kids and shows them how to do 3D photography as part of an artist in residence program.  He also creates site art from the viewpoint of proxemics.  Proxemics is a branch of anthropology that looks at how space is used for communication in different cultures around the planet and during different periods in history.

This is the meeting at which we will schedule activities and exhibits for the 3rd Georgia 3D Fest.  This event is important for spreading the 3D philosophy and locating people who are doing neat 3D which we don't know about.

Following the planning session, I will give a workshop on slide mounting.  There are quite a few new members who have mounted slides for hand-held viewing, but don't have experience mounting for projection.  This will be a hands-on session.  It will be at the end of the evening so those not interested can socialize or leave.

The meeting is the 2nd Friday of this month – January 13. We will meet at 7:30 PM at the Congregational Church @ 2676 Clairmont Road (about 1 1/2 blocks south of I-85) This is the Church up the winding road, through the woods.  If you have any questions, call Bill @ 706-859-7726.

December meeting report:

Julia Moor provided a super holiday feast as usual.  She works really hard on this and deserves special credit for her efforts. Larry Moor had just completed copying Mike Griffith's Lincoln cards and mounting them. Mike gave his show like live TV used to be.  He pretty well knew what the sequence was going to be, but had to keep alert.  He did a great job – and it was recorded for posterity.  The Lincoln show will be presented again at the 3D Fest and at the NSA 2006 Miami Convention.
