Refocus That Please - by Ralph Reiley

The December meeting began with a lavish spread of food and drink organized by Julia Moor, Dodo Griffith and Marilyn Morton.  They all did an excellent job in organizing a very tasty holiday table for us to enjoy, and all those who brought things for the table.  I did not count the attendees, but we had set out 14 chairs, and most were filled by the time the slide show started.  We had several visitors, including the legendary Lamar Kennedy I have heard so much about.  It was good to meet him, and it looks like he will be rejoining our group, which is a very good thing.  We also had three very young visitors from the group that meets at the other end of the church.  Their mother left them in our charge, and we told her that we would bring them back just before the start of the last slide show, Brown Paper Wrapper, which was of a more adult nature.  My son, Thomas, found this show to be very interesting.   I talked with the mother of our three young visitors after the meeting, and they had given her a very enthusiastic report on the amazing 3-D images they had seen.  Hopefully we planted some good seeds in some young minds.

After we had our fill of treats and drinks, we started the slide show.  Steve and Suzanne had a plethora of shows from the recent NSA convention.  We were treated to digital slides, and short films.  It will be hard to top the quality of this show.  One of the slide shows from the convention was made up of images by our club members.  I was quite surprised to see one of my photos included in this show.  I was quite honored to be included in a group with Larry Moor, Bill Moll, Bert Arps, Steve & Suzanne Hughes, Ken Kistner, Ted Baskin, Al Hess, Lee Pratt, Andrea Shetley, and Huck Devenzio, who I consider some of the best photographers I know.  My apologies if I left anyone out.

January Program

The program will consist of two slide presentations.  The first will be the PSA Traveling Show and the second will be one of the PSA Hall of Fame slide shows.  One features the best of current 3D photography and the other the best of a couple decades ago.  Both will be great 3D.  We will have PSA application forms available, in case you are inspired to sign up!

The meeting is the 2nd Friday of this month – January 9th. We will meet at 7:30 PM at the Congregational Church @ 2676 Clairmont Road (about 1 1/2 blocks south of I-85) This is the Church up the winding road, through the woods.  If you have any questions, call Bill Moll @ 706-859-7726 or WHMoll@aol.com.  We will meet at the Fortune Cookie in Loehmann's Plaza at Briarcliff and North Druid Hills at 5:30 PM for dinner before the meeting.
