Refocus That Please - by Bill Moll

The meeting this month is the 3rd Saturday of this month – February 17th. The 4th Georgia 3D Fest will be held from 9 AM to 8 PM on Saturday, February 17, at the Holiday Inn Conference Center, 130 Clairemont Ave, Decatur, Georgia  30030.  Events will include both film and digital projection, exhibits, workshops and a trade fair, with both modern and vintage images.  Admission is $5 and covers all events.  Bring your friends and neighbors for a dddelightful day of 3D!    For more information go to http://shughes.org/3dfest2007/ or call Bill Moll @ 706-859-7726.

There will be a 3D dinner in one of Decatur's many restaurants on both Friday and Saturday night.  Friday dinner will be around 7-8 PM and Saturday's time will depend upon how fast we can repack the equipment. There are going to be some interesting 3D people from out-of-town, so come on by – we will leave from the Holiday Inn lobby.

January meeting report:

There were 16 attendees.  We did a bit of 4th Georgia 3D Fest planning first.  Then we had the competition with people's choice judging.  Dodo tabulated the results.  If we are going to give the Hughes' more competition in cards, we are going to have to jazz up the overall card presentation.  Several people have had nice photographic images, but have lost out because the overall card presentation wasn't as good as theirs.  Years ago, the homemade look was typical of NSA cards.  However, for vintage cards, the overall card presentation was important.  That standard has returned.  Being good 3D mates, Steve and Suzanne have given several presentations on how to make elegant cards.  I have made a resolution to have cards for the March competition.

Marilyn provided refreshments again.  To keep Marilyn from using all of her retirement income to feed us, give her a call to provide refreshments for March, April or May.  I then gave a demonstration on how to make View-Master reels.  Fortunately, Lee Pratt was on hand to make a few corrections and suggestions.  Lee passed around two reels made for the Southern California View-Master competition.  One was made with a VM camera and the other was created with a digital template and a film recorder.
