Refocus That Please - by Bill Moll

This newsletter is going out to a larger group than usual.  After this issue, hard-copies will only go to paid members.  Non-paid members can get the email version or see the newsletter on our web site – Georgia3D.com.

There will be no Friday night meeting this month – the club meeting will be the 3D Fest on Saturday, February 12, at the Holiday Inn Select Conference Center, 130 Clairemont Avenue, from 9 AM to 4:30 PM.  There will also be a 3D auction by John Waldsmith at 6 PM. The schedule and participants are on pages 2 and 3.  If your name is not on the list, please give me a call – we want to show off the greatest variety of 3D possible.

You can also contribute by coming early at 8 AM to help setup or stay after 4:30 PM to help tear down.  We also need more helpers during the show for staffing tables.  These will be one hour shifts, leaving plenty of time for enjoying the show.  Paid 2005 ASA members get a $5 discount on the $5 admission fee.

After many years of discussing another meeting facility/night, we will be trying both in April (and maybe May). The March meeting will be 7:30 PM on Friday, March 11, at the church as usual.  The April meeting will be 7:00 PM on Monday, April 11, at the Chamblee Library.  We used to meet there many years ago.

January meeting summary:

There were 24 people at the meeting – a record for recent times.  Steve and Suzanne Hughes successfully presented the first member slide show scheduled for this year!  The title slides arrived the day of the meeting and were inserted on faith.  The show went well and we look forward to the final version at the 3D Fest.

Katherine Taylor judged the competition for both cards and slides.  Her comments on the selected winners were instructive and will be discussed in next Freeview.  March and May are also competition nights with outside judges, so plan to take some new slides and cards and be there!
